Disclosure:This guide compares one brand’s collection. Widths, prices, ratings, and lengths were read from ronatelli.com on October 28, 2026; our buying advice applies to any brand.
Ronatelli sells ten men’s chains, from a 2 mm snake chain to a 7 mm curb, and all but one come in 20, 22, 24, and 26 inches at the same price whatever the length. The product pages give you the width, the price, and a rating with a review count; what they don’t do is put the chains side by side. This guide does: all ten in one table, drawn to scale and grouped by width, with the lengths, which ones carry a pendant, and which to pick by neckline and budget. Prices move and ratings shift as reviews come in, so treat the numbers as a snapshot and check the product page before you order.
Key takeaways
- Ten chains, 2 to 7 mm: two slim chains (Fuli 2 mm, Alfo 3 mm), four at 4 mm in four different weaves, and four wider pieces from the 5 mm Krun to the 7 mm Cana.
- Prices run $149 to $499, and the length doesn’t change the price: a 26″ chain costs the same as a 20″ one.
- The most-reviewed chain is the Sergo (4 mm foxtail, 200 reviews at 4.8), followed by the Duomo, Cana, and Alfo. The Parma and Fulda have the highest averages, 4.9.
- Lengths: 20″, 22″, 24″, and 26″ (the Monza in 24″ and 26″ only). The brand calls 22″ the most common men’s length and suggests one size longer for a pendant.
- Safest first picks: Duomo (4 mm cable, $249) or Sergo (4 mm foxtail, $329) at 20″ or 22″; the Fuli ($149) if the chain will sit under a shirt.

All ten at a glance
Every chain is listed as 925 sterling silver, with its width on the product page, and the Fuli adds a platinum plating over the sterling. Sorted by width, the ten run from a chain you barely see to one that reads from across a room, and four of them share the same 4 mm width in four different weaves.

Width first: 2, 4, or 7 mm
Width decides how a chain reads more than its pattern does. Our chain buying guide sorts it like this: under 2.5 mm a chain is a fine line, 3 to 4 mm is the everyday range, 5 to 6 mm reads clearly as jewelry, and 7 mm and up is a statement. Ronatelli’s collection covers the first three with plenty of choice and stops at the start of the fourth, with two 7 mm curbs.

If you have never worn a chain, start at 3 to 4 mm. Going wider later is easy; living with a chain that feels loud is not. Four of the ten chains sit at exactly 4 mm, so the choice there comes down to the weave rather than the size.
Slim: the Fuli and the Alfo
The Fuli is a 2 mm snake chain at $149, the cheapest piece in the collection and the one to choose when the chain should almost disappear, under a dress shirt or with one button open. A snake chain is a run of tightly fitted plates that forms a smooth, round tube, so it looks polished and liquid, but it kinks for good if it is folded sharply, so hang it or lay it flat when you take it off. It is also the only plated chain in the collection; like any plating, the platinum layer can wear through over years of daily wear, usually first on the links next to the clasp.
The Alfo is a 3 mm bamboo chain at $299: slim, polished links with ridges like the joints of a bamboo cane. It catches more light than the Fuli, and because it is made of separate links, it doesn’t kink the way a snake chain can. Choose it when you want a slim chain that is worn on its own and seen. A matching Alfo bracelet, 3.5 mm wide, is in the bracelet collection.
4 mm: one width, four weaves
Four chains share the 4 mm width, the everyday size, so this is where the weave decides.
- Duomo, cable, $249. Open oval links, each joined at a right angle to the next: the simplest chain made, light for its width, and the most affordable of the four. The second most-reviewed chain in the collection, with 84 reviews at 4.8.
- Monza, rope, $249 (was $399). Small links twisted into a spiral, so it throws light in every direction and looks brighter and fuller than its width. Sold in 24″ and 26″ only, which suits a pendant or a chain worn over a T-shirt. It was the only chain on sale when we checked.
- Sergo, foxtail, $329. A woven chain of V-shaped links, so the texture runs the whole length and it drapes like a cord. The collection’s most-reviewed chain, with 200 reviews at 4.8, and the one to choose for a 4 mm chain with more character than a cable.
- Pudolf, Byzantine, $339. Rings folded back into each other in clusters: the densest of the four, with a lot of silver for its width and a pattern that is very hard to kink. The most expensive 4 mm chain, and the one that looks most like jewelry from a distance.

Our guide to chain styles compares cable, rope, and Byzantine chains with the other common styles, including how each one handles a pendant and how heavy it is for its width.
Wider: 5 to 7 mm
The four wider chains are meant to be seen. Each one is worn on its own, over a T-shirt or an open collar, rather than under a shirt or with a pendant.
- Krun, scroll link, 5 mm, $439. Flat bar links twisted half a turn and engraved with an ancient-style pattern. The engraving shows up close; from a distance it reads as a twisted chain.
- Parma, twisted, 6 mm, $329. Several foxtail chains twisted and woven into one strand, according to the product page, which gives it a thick, rope-like texture. It costs less than the 4 mm Pudolf and had the highest average in the collection, 4.9 from 32 reviews.
- Fulda, engraved curb, 7 mm, $439. A curb chain with scrollwork engraved by hand on every link, per the product page. It lies flat like any curb, and the pattern only shows up close. 4.9 from 56 reviews.
- Cana, curb, 7 mm, $499. A plain, polished curb with no engraving: the boldest look and the most expensive chain in the collection. It is also the only one with a box clasp, with a side safety latch, which is the clasp style our chain guide recommends for wide, heavy links.
Lengths: 20 to 26 inches, one price
Every chain except the Monza comes in 20″, 22″, 24″, and 26″, and the price is the same at every length, so a 26″ chain costs no more than a 20″ one. Ronatelli’s size guide calls 22″ the most common men’s length, suggests one size longer for a pendant or a broad build, and says layered chains should differ by at least 2″. Our guide to layering chains builds five pairings from these ten, with the lengths and the price together.
| Length | The brand’s guide | Our guide (15–16″ neck) |

The neck is what moves a chain up or down, so measure yours: a chain about 4″ longer than your neck sits just below the collarbone, and about 6″ longer on the upper chest. Our chain length guide has the full method, and if you are buying for someone else, our guide to buying a silver chain as a gift explains why 22″ is the safe choice.
With a pendant
Ronatelli’s pendants are sold without a chain; each pendant page says the chain is sold separately, and the product photos show some of them on a foxtail chain. Of the ten, the Monza rope and the Sergo foxtail suit a pendant best: both are strong at 4 mm, and a bail slides along them without catching. The Duomo cable works for a light pendant. Skip the Fuli for this: snake chains kink at the bail under a pendant’s weight. The Byzantine and the wider chains are usually worn alone.
Check the fit before you order. The bail, the loop the pendant hangs from, has to pass over the chain and its clasp. Ronatelli lists the same fit for all nine of its pendants, chains up to 6 mm, which covers every chain here except the 7 mm Fulda and Cana. A pendant hangs an inch or two below the chain, so size the chain for where the pendant should land; our chain length guide shows how, and our guide to the best chain for a pendant covers bail fit, pendant weight, and chain style in full.
Which one: by neckline, use, and budget
- A first chain. Duomo (4 mm cable, $249) or Sergo (4 mm foxtail, $329), at 20″ for a chain worn alone or 22″ if a pendant may follow.
- Under a dress shirt. Fuli (2 mm snake, $149) or Alfo (3 mm bamboo, $299) at 20″, which stays inside the collar.
- For a pendant. Monza (4 mm rope, $249 on sale) at 24″, or Sergo at 22″ or 24″.
- Worn alone over a T-shirt. Cana (7 mm curb, $499) or Fulda (7 mm engraved curb, $439); the Parma (6 mm, $329) for nearly the same width for less.
- Under $300. Fuli $149, Duomo $249, Monza $249 (on sale), and Alfo $299.
- The longest track record. Sergo, with 200 reviews at 4.8 when we checked, then Duomo (84), Cana (79), and Alfo (79), all at 4.8.
- To match a bracelet. Seven of the chains share a name and a pattern with a Ronatelli bracelet: Alfo, Sergo, Pudolf, Krun, Parma, Fulda, and Cana. The bracelets are not always the same width, so check both; our comparison of all 31 Ronatelli bracelets lists them.
Reviews, sale prices, and the fine print
The ratings in the table are the averages each product page shows, with the number of reviews behind them. For what buyers actually say about the fit, the clasps, the weight, and the delivery time, our review of 56 Ronatelli customer reviews quotes them in full, and our Ronatelli brand profile covers the brand itself.
The Monza was the only chain on sale when we checked ($249, from $399). Nine of the ten close with a lobster clasp, most of them decorated with an engraved motif, and the Cana with a box clasp and a side safety latch; the product pages don’t name the clasp, so that comes from the product photos. No page lists a weight. Shipping is free and tracked; the brand quotes one to two business days to process an order and two to three days delivery from its US warehouse or four to seven from overseas. Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the piece, unworn with tags and packaging, with the return postage paid by the customer; a different length means a return and a new order.

No. Each pendant page says the chain is sold separately. The Monza rope and the Sergo foxtail suit a pendant best, and the Duomo cable a light one.

Bottom line
Start with the width. For one chain that goes with everything, a 4 mm Duomo or Sergo at 20″ or 22″ covers most men at $249 to $329, and the Sergo has the longest review record in the collection. Go to the Fuli or Alfo when the chain should stay low-key, to the Monza or Sergo for a pendant, and to the Cana, Fulda, or Parma when you want the chain to be the main piece. Every length costs the same, so choose the length for your neck rather than the price, and check the product page for the price on the day.
